Is a hardwired charger better than a 240-volt outlet?

Hardwired equipment can support higher continuous charging loads and removes the receptacle connection. A receptacle can be useful for portability. The better choice depends on the charger, vehicle, circuit size, and how the space will be used.

Can you install a charger I already purchased?

Yes, when the equipment is listed, compatible, and suitable for the location. MNM’s Lifetime Workmanship Warranty backs the installation work performed by MNM.

Tesla Wall Connector and exterior conduit installed along the brick wall at this Walker project — The installed Wall Connector and exterior conduit at this Walker home.

Walker, Louisiana

Tesla Wall Connector under a carport

The problem: The homeowner needed a Tesla Wall Connector installed under the carport, with power supplied from the existing exterior electrical panel.
What we did: We installed a dedicated 240-volt circuit, ran exterior conduit along the brick wall, and mounted and connected the Wall Connector at the carport.
The result: The installation was completed with the charger mounted at the parking area and the circuit routed from the exterior panel.
