Restoring power to a bathroom light
- The problem
- A bathroom light would not work after a remodel. Testing showed about 95 volts from hot to neutral, compared with 120 volts from hot to ground.
- What we did
- We traced the wiring and found a failed neutral splice concealed behind the drywall without a junction box. We moved the connection to an accessible junction box in the attic, remade the splices and terminations, and ran the wiring back down.
- The result
- Testing confirmed normal voltage was restored. We installed the light fixture and got the bathroom lighting working again.
